This past weekend I got to photograph one of my dearest friends’ Vietnamese Engagement Ceremony commonly known as a tea ceremony – here are just a few highlights from the day.

I loved how excited they were to incorporate this tradition to celebrate their union among their closest friends/family with their own modern twist. Thoey donning a stunning gold ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), with a delicate flower crown and all her bridesmaids in Vietnamese/Chinese dresses they thrifted at various shops – in true Thoey fashion! Enjoyed their day very much and am so looking forward to their wedding this Fall!

Though I primarily photograph weddings, lately I’ve had the pleasure of working with a few newborns and it’s been a whole new learning curve for me but it’s been so much fun and truly an honor to be invited into such intimate moments during a parents’ life. For this session, I got to spend a few hours with Sejal & Vipul with their sweet baby boy Rayan at just two weeks old in their home. It was such a joy to capture some very special moments of them just cuddling with Rayan and adoring all his sweet little baby parts from his head down to his little toes! Below are just some of my favorite moments from the day.DSC_3225storyboard001DSC_3170DSC_3255storyboard003

A few favorite snaps from yesterday – the perfect Sunday afternoon spent hiking, chatting and laughing with these two! I can’t wait for their wedding in October!¬†DSC_4881DSC_4994storyboard003DSC_5035storyboard002DSC_4726storyboard001

Home from a short & sweet weekend in San Diego for an Engagement session with these two! Daniel & Angelique decided to have their engagement session in San Diego where Daniel attended grad school and Angelique would frequently visit him. The magnificent Bal Boa park was one of their favorite places to go together and Oceanside beach was where he proposed – here are just a few favorites from their session!

I always appreciate a DIY wedding with thoughtful details and this was certainly one of my favorites because Kyle & Sydney are a very unique pair and really wanted their wedding to reflect who they are as a couple and it really did. They had a theme of Rustic elegance to begin with and the Rengstorff¬†house was just the perfect venue. A few of my favorite details from their day included their finds from estate sales such as a rickety baker’s pantry for the dessert bar, an old mirror for the bar menu. her DIY vintage brooch bouquet, vintage¬†suitcases for cards, their darling guest invites designed by Kyle’s dad and thumbprint tree guestbook hand drawn by Sydney’s father. For dinner they had chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits paired with collard greens and ham hocks for their love of Southern Soul food. And their music inspired by movies they love like the theme from Somewhere in Time and Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Beyond the details their day was filled with so much love, laughter, and signing and dancing – Sydney and Kyle’s love story began nearly ten years ago when they were working their first mall jobs at age 15 and both immediately had a crush on a each other but it wasn’t until¬†after three long years of awkward thumb-twiddling moments, that Kyle finally asked Sydney out on a date and the rest is history!
